South Congress is home to many excellent options for dining before and between classes.  Take it off the Hill:

  • El Gallo Restaurant – Mexican food – 2910 South Congress Avenue – 0.1 miles
  • Habana Soco – Cuban food and drinks – 2728 South Congress Avenue – 0.3 miles
  • Taqueria la Esperanza – Best street tacos around, mostly evening hours – 3612 South Congress Avenue – 0.3 miles
  • Opal Divine’s Penn Field – Restaurant and bar with patio – 3601 South Congress Avenue – 0.4 miles
  • Thundercloud – Subway, but local and good – 3801 South Congress Avenue #109 – 0.5 miles
  • Lucy’s Fried Chicken – Fried food stand – 2218 College Avenue 78704 – 0.7 miles
  • Torchy’s Tacos – Multiple locations, damn good tacos – 2809 South 1st St – 0.8 miles
  • Hopdoddy Burger Bar – Great burgers and full bar – 1400 South Congress Avenue – 1.4 miles

Off-Campus Cafes
St. Edward’s University is located in eclectic South Austin on Congress which is home to many cafés and coffee shops featuring free wireless access.  Study beyond the Hill at some of our favorite places:

FARA CAFÉ – Coffee Shop
Fara Coffee has been growing 100% SHG Arabic coffee beans on their family owned farms located in the rainforest of Mataglapa, Nicargua. They oversea each step of production from planting to roasting and packaging to ensure customer satisfaction.

Hours: Open Daily from 6:00am-8:00pm

Neworld Café – Burgers and Sandwiches

UTea Town – Internet
Looking for Bota Tea and free wi-fi?  Go to UTea Town.  Located in the intersection of Dean Keaton and Medical Arts, UTea Town offers a great variety of teas.  They do tapioca right!
