Health and Counseling Support
St. Edward’s University offers confidential health and counseling services for balancing family, work and school. Professional counselors and RNs are available should you need help or informed guidance for life challenges while earning your degree. Explore the Health and counseling website here.
St. Edward’s requires all students have health insurance. If you are not covered by your employer, you can register for the University’s student plan here.
The Health and Counseling Center is open from 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. Monday – Friday and is located near the residential village in Lady Bird Johnson Hall.
Health Services include:
- Treatment for minor, acute illnesses and injuries
- Routine immunizations and preventive vaccinations
- Preventative and health assessment exams
- Information about medications and medical conditions
- Education to promote healthy living and self-care
- Referrals to specialty care providers as needed
Counseling services are available by appointment and include:
- Individual counseling
- Couples counseling
- Group counseling
- Biofeedback

Off Campus
Sliding scale counseling is offered by professionals and interns at Plumeria Counseling Center in south Austin. Discounted acupuncture and herbal medicine is available at AOMA, which has north and south Austin locations.
Crisis Support
Crisis seems to occur most often during the night. You are not alone because St. Edward’s offers 24/7 after hour’s crisis services for every member of the St. Edward’s family including friends, family, faculty and staff. The University has an on call psychologist available around the clock to help you confidentially work through life obstacles. Spiritual Support
St. Edward’s is an interfaith campus and provides campus ministry support to all faiths. Campus Ministry can provide spiritual guidance to help you face the challenges of returning to school while balancing work and family. Find strength and support by understanding your relationship to God.
